Elvy and Flower enter a new partnership, set to free capacity through thousands of connected homes
Fast-growing energy companies Elvy and Flower are entering a partnership. By connecting and optimising thousands of houses across the country, Elvy and Flower create an energy resource that lowers the household's electricity costs and adds flexibility to the grid.

“At Elvy we have developed the world's first energy subscription, and around it we are now building an entirely new kind of energy company. Every new Elvy home does not just become considerably more self-sufficient, it is also an important part of the answer to Sweden's capacity problem,” says Johan Outinen, CEO and co-founder of Elvy.
Elvy's growing portfolio of home batteries and solar installations is now being connected to Flower's trading and optimisation platform. Through Flower's advanced algorithms and in-house software, Elvy can maximise its market-based revenue while the stability of the grid is supported.
“With Elvy as a partner we create more conditions for small-scale energy resources to contribute to balance in the grid, while we at Flower strengthen our business in the home segment,” says John Diklev, founder and CEO of Flower.
The partnership with Flower makes it possible for Elvy to control thousands of units as a single resource, and to use them where they create the most value at that moment. Elvy calls it hyperlocal capacity, where Elvy has built the infrastructure and the software behind the meter, while Flower provides the activation in front of the meter, the access to the energy markets and the optimisation against the grid.
“The next large power plant does not have to be a power plant. It can also be tens of thousands of connected homes that together produce, store and move energy when the system needs it most. That way we also free capacity for other critical investments in society, such as the build-out of data centres and the continued electrification of transport.”
Elvy's ambition is bigger than Sweden, and the company is looking at new markets such as Germany and the UK from the start.
Flower has been active on the European market for some time, which opens the door to expansion into countries such as Germany, the Netherlands and France.
